Aggies cagers pick up two
The Velva boys have moved over the 500 mark by picking up two wins last week and going to 5-4.
The Aggies hosted Rugby on January 14 and beat the Panthers 53-42, and then traveled to Surrey where they took down the Mustangs 72-57.
“We played well on both sides of the court,” said Velva Coach Matt Weidler. “We are becoming more consistent on the defensive side, which is helping us get some points. This will have to continue as we get deeper into district play.”
Taylor O’Shea led the Aggie scoring drive with 15 points, including 4 three-pointers. Josh Sandy put in 2 three-pointers towards his total of 10 points, and Jon Mack had 9 points. Jordan Weidler drained 8, Zach Podoll had 6, Michael Wiest scored 3 and Levi Anderson had 2 points.
The Aggies went only 5 of 13 from the stripe for 38 percent, but that stat improved dramatically on Saturday night when they shot 16 of 21 for 76 percent against Surrey.
