Aggies open with 5-1
Despite wet diamonds and a delayed spring, baseball is back and the Velva-Drake Aggies are already at 5-1.
They opened by taking a doubleheader from Minot Ryan, 1-0 and 2-1.
“For the first time hitting, we did a good job butting the bat on the ball, we just didn’t get a lot of hits,” said VD Coach Mike Thingstad. “The pitchers did a great job, gave up one hit in 10 innings.”
Taking the mound for the no hitter were Trenton Bruner, Ty Bruner and Tyler Mack, while Mack, Tyler Ystaas and Josh Weidler handled pitching in the second game.
In game one, Weidler and Mack had hits, and Ystaas had the RBI. In game two, Austyn Kittelson had 2 hits and Garrett Wible hit 1.
The Aggies split their next series with MLSG, losing the opener 2-1 and winning the nightcap 8-2.
