Aggies shoot down Eagles
Velva recorded its fifth straight win of the ‘09 season in New Town last Friday night, rolling over the Eagles 66-24. The Aggies put up 47 unanswered points in the first quarter alone, and were ahead 53-0 before finally allowing New Town on the scoreboard in the second quarter.
Collin Kittelson visited the end zone three times in the first quarter, cracking the scoreboard just seconds into the game with a 43 yard touchdown run.
Jordan Weidler took in the second score, and 8 yard run with less than 2 minutes gone. Josh Sandy took in the 2 point conversion, and then followed that a short time later with Velva’s third touchdown, a 23 yard pass reception from quarterback Jon Mack.
Kittelson took in the next two scores on 21 and 44 yard rushing touchdowns. With less than 2 minutes to go in the first period, Sandy grabbed an interception and took it 45 yards to the house. It was Codee Lee making the final touchdown of the quarter, recovering a fumble and pushing it 6 yards into the end zone.
Sandy scored again about 4 minutes into the second quarter, making it 53-0 on a 3 yard pass play from Mack. The Eagles finally got on the board with a 1 yard touchdown run, and repeated the 1 yard dive later in the quarter for another TD. The points weren’t unanswered, though, as Weidler made it 60-60 with a 53 yard run for the score and Kittelson added another touchdown with an 8 yard jaunt to wrap up the Aggie scoring for the night.
