Netters head for district tourney
The Velva Aggies volleyball girls wrapped up their home games with a 3-1 win over Wells County last Thursday. At their last home game, the senior girls ended their years on the court by winning 18-25, 25-12, 25-22, and 25-16.
Brittney Thingstad paced the scoring by nailing 24 kills and 1 ace while saving 15 digs. Bailey Thomas had 9 kills and 7 digs, and Ally Nelson scored 2 aces, 6 kills and saved 13 digs. Sloane Peterson put away 4 kills, Sarah Weidler had 3 kills, an ace and 17 digs, Whitney Boehm had a kill, Ali Podoll hammered 3 aces, a kill and had 8 digs while providing 18 assists. Taylor Brudevold dug up 10 saves and had 3 aces, while Jaci Norbury had 17 assists and 2 digs, and Paige Aaseth had 2 digs and an ace.
The Aggies wrapped up the regular season on Monday night in Des Lacs Burlington where they beat the Lakers 3-1, going 25-23, 20-25, 25-17 and 25-22. Thingstad led the offense with 23 kills, followed by Weidler and Thomas with 8 each. Podoll had 22 assists and Norbury came up with 21.
The girls will be in Bottineau on Thursday night to begin District 11 play as the number 2 seed. Velva’s first game is the third of the day, at approximately 7 p.m. They will meet TGU-Towner.
