Velva netters split games

The Velva girls came in with a win and a loss in volleyball play last week, handling Surrey on Oct. 13th, but falling to Bottineau in district play.
“It was a big district loss,” said Head Coach Diana Thingstad. “We have two weeks to regroup before districts.”
The girls were in Surrey on the 13th, and won the game handily, going 25-11, 25-17, 25-16. Sarah Weidler went 22 of 25 serving with 8 aces and 2 kills. Brittney Thingstad was 8 for 8 with 5 kills and 10 digs, and Bailey Thomas had 5 kills. Ali Podoll was 14 for 14 with 4 aces and 9 assists; Ally Nelson was 11 of 12 with 2 kills and 8 digs; Taylor Brudevold went 8 of 9 with 3 aces and 4 digs; Jaci Norbury put away 3 aces and 1 kill with 6 assists; and Sloane Peterson a kill.
