Xcountry girls take first
The Velva cross country girls claimed their first team title of the year at the Dunseith meet. The girls took first, followed by Rugby, Red River and Dunseith in the top spots.
“The girls were able to run together, which was nice,” said Velva Coach Dave Peterson.
For the varsity girls, Kara Kuntz (18:01.02), Cassidy Peterson (18:02.79) and Breanne Sherlock (18:03.62) finished seventh, eighth and ninth. Aggie Katie Odland (18:54.84) came in 17th and Whitney Boehm (19:23.09) was 21st.
For the junior high girls, Rachel Bail clocked in the 3000M with 15:05.44 for a ninth place showing.
Chris Peterson was 11th for junior high boys at 12:55.38.
