2011 Praise on the Prairie - Madison Lorentzen- 07/25/2011
Christian singer/songwriter and Washburn native Madison Lorentzen performs Friday as part of the ninth annual Praise on the Prairie music festival northeast of Hazen, N.D. The three-day festival included musical talent from both near and far, highlighted by a performance Saturday night by Marty Raybon, formerly of the band Shenandoah.

Garrison Dam - 80,000 cfs- 05/31/2011
Water thunders from the Garrison Dam's regulatory tunnels and into the Missouri River at a rate of about 80,000 cubic feet per second on May 28. The tunnels are able to release 98,000 cfs, and will join the power plant and emergency spillway to release a total of 150,000 cfs by mid-June, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Washburn and Wilton youth visited with four prisoners of the McLean County Law Enforcement Center to hear what life in the slammer is like. The men shared stories of great regret as they explained what it was that put them in jail and what they would do if they could be out again. They pushed the fact that this was no place that the youth wanted to be. It was no place that they ever wanted to return to.
