Beulah Packs 108,864 meals
Team chants poured out the doors of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church last weekend. Teams of volunteers were formed to make, seal and label “mobilepacks” for Feed My Starving Children. By raising $22,000 and finding nearly 500 volunteers, Beulah was able to pack 108,864 meals, which offer the ability to feed 296 children for one year at one meal a day.
The work was spread out between three two-hour shifts. One hundred sixty volunteers were spread into eight stations. Each station took on a number and created fun competitive chants to cheer each other on.
Once boxes were full they were loaded onto a skid that was then loaded back onto the semi-truck. Jordan Langness, youth pastor at Prince of Peace and organizer of Feed My Starving Children efforts in Beulah, said he thought the event went really well.
“The team that came from FMSC did a great job in setting us up on Friday and running the event on Saturday,” Langness said. “The feedback from the participants has been really great as well; people are eager for a chance to participate again.”
