Beulah readies for 2010 flood

Sandbags are the first order of business, Beulah Mayor Darrell Bjerke said.

Bjerke wants to see 20,000-25,000 filled and ready to go well before the Knife River starts rising this spring. Bjerke chaired a meeting of the Beulah Emergency Preparedness and Flood Task Force Monday. The task force began making arrangements for sandbags and other emergency measures to be in place in the likely event that the river bursts its banks for the second straight year.
