Beulah says NO!

By a 7-0 vote, the Beulah City Council said "thanks but no thanks" to the offer from the Army Corps of Engineers of an emergency levee to protect against this year’s flood.

"It came down to that we were hurting as many people as we would be helping," said councilman Scott Wagner, who represents the South Side. "I got stronger responses from people who were against the levee. I saw both maps where on one I was inside the dike and the other I was outside. We were leaving a lot of people out there by themselves, stranding a lot of people and were dooming a lot of people to definite flood damage. I couldn’t justify causing problems to those people."
