Centennial book available soon

Centennial book available soon

Co-chairs Dena Kemmet and Sandy Weaver reached out to businesses and families in the area to get the book together. Kemmet focused on information and photo storage, formatting and organization, while Weaver took care of interviewing, writing and news article selection. Typists and editors were Jessica Biesterfeld, Joette Buchmann, Deanne Gierke, Toni Hoff and Lynne Wolf.
Both Weaver and Kemmet lauded each other’s hard work and dedication throughout the course of the book’s work, adding that the typists compiling the information and histories were essential to the process.
Weaver said the centennial book committee was one of the last centennial-focused groups to get together, largely because of hesitance of anyone to chair the group and see the process through. After learning that Kemmet had taken on the task, she signed on and from there began holding regular meetings.
After figuring out whose talents fit the tasks at hand, the ladies started looking at what Hazen’s group had done for its celebration last year. From there, the work began slowly and then built into a whirlwind of activities.
“At the beginning we all felt like we all had a lot of time,” Kemmet said. “Then toward the end we were hoping for more because new ideas kept popping up.”
