Commission considers building expansion

With the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department purchasing additional rescue equipment, more storage space is needed, Sheriff Dean Danzeisen told the Mercer County Commission at their meeting Sept. 15.

In the last year, through grants to the Mercer-McLean Drug Task Force and other initiatives, the county has acquired a new rescue boat and other equipment, Danzeisen said. The county does have some room to store the additional equipment at the Crossroads and the county shop, but it would be best that the rescue boat be stored in Stanton, where it could be deployed quickly on the Missouri River if needed.
