Fix to happen in Spring time
By Daniel Arens
Despite hopes that a solution to an electrical issue at the Mercer County Shop could be found, the county commission decided to wait until spring before doing the repairs.
The issue began when one of the phases in the three-phase line from the transformers to the maintenance shop went out around Christmas. The outage only affected a few things in the shop, and all of these, with the exception of hot water, have been temporarily addressed through a portable generator.
Following a meeting Jan. 2, the commission instructed Mercer County Maintenance Supervisor Jim Albers to look into possible ways of addressing the electrical issue now, rather than waiting until spring. The commissioners hoped that the “thumping” process could detect the location of the break in the line.
