Future flood control on county water resource board’s mind

With another flood disaster narrowly averted this spring, the Mercer County Water Resource Board’s attention has turned toward taming the Knife River while it once again sleeps.
At its regular meeting May 12 in Hazen, the board reported three proposed sites for dry dams along the Knife’s tributaries--one along Brush Creek just south of the Beulah Airport, another on Coyote Creek southwest of Beulah, and another along Antelope Creek near the old Schramm dam northwest of Hazen.
