Getting active outside in the winter
By Kate Johnson
Winter has begun to hit full force but there are still ways to stay active and enjoy the outdoors.
Beulah Parks and Recreation maintains an outdoor rink, as well as cross country skiing paths.
The outdoor rink is located at 1915 4th Ave NE Beulah.
The park district digs the rink down to create a lip so that water can be retained and held in the winter. When it becomes cold enough, the area is filled with water. Maintenance on the rink can be tricky at times.
Typically, after a snow fall, the snow just needs to be shoveled off of the surface. Every so often more water needs to be sprayed over the surface to fill any holes carved by skates.
