Groundbreaking set for ‘Memory Lane’ pocket park

Groundbreaking set for ‘Memory Lane’ pocket park
A pocket park in downtown Beulah will take on a more physical form next week and the public is invited to share in the exciting event and participate in making it happen. The City Beautification Committee will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the park, deemed “Memory Lane,” on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. The new park, located on Central Avenue North just west across the street from City Hall, will finally become a reality. Following groundbreaking, the committee will hold a work night and begin early stages of landscaping. The night will include work on a split rail entrance to the park and a few fall plantings. Committee member Chere Allard said the work would begin at the front of the park and move west toward the back of the lot as donations and funding allows. “It will be a work in progress,” Allard said. Allard said the “Memory Park” would also be an opportunity for people to donate things “in memory of” or “in honor of” or “donated by.” She said there is a book on display at City Hall with photos of flowers, trees, shrubs, benches, waterfalls, arbors and lights with selection ideas.
