KRCC signs administrator

The Knife River Care Center has hired a new administrator. Fred Stern, president of the Knife River Care Center Board of Directors, first made the announcement to staff at the local care center last Tuesday.

Langdon native Keith Gendreau accepted the position and will begin his duties on or about Oct. 13.

Stern said Gendreau brings more than 30 years experience in the healthcare industry to the job. He most recently is serving as administrator of Libby Care Center, Libby, Mont.

Gendreau’s education includes Valley City State University and North Dakota State University, with a bachelor of science degree in healthcare administration. Prior industry experience includes administrator of St. Vincent’s and CEO at Immanuel Lutheran Corporation, Kalispell, Mont.

Stern said many factors played into Gendreau’s selection that made him stand out as a candidate. He was chosen from eight applicants, five who were interviewed. Stern explained the interview process, saying the board began with the usual background checks and extensive reference checks. Stern added that the North Dakota references came from individuals KRCC is familiar with and are what he would classify as outstanding.
