Laying Old Glory to rest

In the warm summer sun, members of Boy Scout Troop 1019 gathered in Riverside Park to conduct a solemn and dignified ceremony – consigning worn and tattered U.S. and North Dakota flags to the flames.

Monday was Flag Day, a day to commemorate and honor the Star Spangled-Banner. It is also a day to respectfully retire flags that have become worn and tattered from exposure to the elements. Beulah Boy Scouts gathered in the park to continue a tradition that has been going on around the country for many decades, properly disposing of American flags.
