School starts off the year with lower taxes

The Beulah Public School paid its final bills of the 2008-09 school year and then adjourned, only to turn around and reconvene to officially start the 2009-10 school year. One big difference is that property tax payers in the school district will be bearing less of the burden this year.

A big part of starting a new school year is going over the multitude of budgets covering every aspect of education in Beulah from student activities to hot lunches to capital improvements to staff salaries. For the 2008-09 school year, the Beulah School District spent more than $6.3 million. That is going to be bumped up by nearly $700,000 for the coming year, yet taxpayers are going to be paying less.
