The June 12 election, what you need to know
By Kate Johnson
During this year’s elections there is a chance there will be six vacant council seats at most and five empty seats at the least.
Current council persons Brant Keller and Kathy Kelsch are not running for re-election.
In the event that Travis Frey wins the election, Ben Lenzen would no longer sit on council because he was running for mayor and his term expired. When running for mayor on an expired term, a person can not also run for a ward seat.
In the event that Ben Lenzen be elected, Travis Frey would no longer sit on council because he was running for mayor and his term expired. He and Lenzen are in similar situations.
If Clyde Schulz were to be elected, Ben Lenzen and Travis Frey would no longer be on the city council because they ran for the mayor seat and not their ward council seats.
Currently on the ballot, Ward 1 has one vacancy with Dave Czywczynski running. Ward 2 had one vacancy with no one running; however, there are now two vacancies in this ward because of the recent resignation of Joel Morgan.
