Work begins on water pipeline

Motorists taking State Highway 200 past Beulah may have noticed a large stockpile of pipes sitting near the intersection with State Highway 49. They might have also noticed more pipe sitting in the ditches as they headed west to Zap. All that pipe is finally going to be installed.

After years of planning and preparation, dirt is finally being moved in the effort to bring Missouri River water to residents of Mercer, Oliver and northern Dunn counties. Contractors began the excavation work on the extension of the Southwest Water Pipeline at the beginning of the month. Work will continue until freezeup and resume in the spring.
