Zap turns out for sandbagging party

Young and old, from across the street and down the road, a strong contingent of area residents gathered to help Zap prepare for high water as the snow melts.

Between 30 and 40 people gathered to shovel sand, tie and stack bags and move pallets Saturday. The people didn’t look like they were preparing for a potential disaster. There was a lot of joking and laughter as they worked swiftly and steadily to stockpile the sandbags that will be needed to protect the town’s lift station and several homes.
