Tyrel Mellmer would have the unique privilege of wrestling in the USA National Elementary Duals in Fremont, Nebraska this past weekend. He, along with 16 other young wrestlers from across the state ranging from first graders to sixth graders (50 to 160 pounds) would make up the North Dakota Blizzards wrestling team after taking first place in each of their respective weight class in the qualifying tournament on the 26th of March. Seventeen other young men would make up the North Dakota Twisters team for taking second in the qualifier.

This spring has been challenging for most high school track and field teams so far as a couple indoor meets and several outdoor competitions have already been called off. According to coaches Randy Pachl and Todd Kaylor, Beulah athletes aren’t letting Mother Nature win as they were able to sneak in some action at the North Dakota State University Indoor Meet March 26.

Saturday morning made for an awesome wrestling experience for one young Mighty Thunder Wrestler. Aaron Ripplinger, along with his brother, Isaac, Mason Mellmer, Spencer Mellmer, Tyrel Mellmer, Damian Eslinger, Jeremy Leintz and Thomas Leintz took part in the USA State Folkstyle tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center Exhibition Hall. However, only Aaron took to the top of the podium.

The Beulah girls basketball team found a way to make it into the final four but that was where their luck ran out. The Miners lost tough games both to Beach, 76-55, and Dickinson Trinity, 54-28, to finish the Region 7 Tournament in fourth place last week.

Emmie Miller is a thief. With Scranton on a comeback, she found the perfect time to steal the Miners’ possession. A pass down court ended Scranton’s chances of making a fourth-quarter run and sealed Beulah’s 54-41 win late Monday night.
