Battest talks college baseball outbreak
By Jarann Johnson
U-Mary junior catcher Alec Battest thought his team had a chance to shock the conference. Battest’s team was picked 10th in the preseason out of 15 teams but felt like they were better.
“We were just excited to go out and show everybody that we were not even close to the worst team. We were probably the best team, if not the second-best team,” Battest, a Beulah alum said.
But the chance to prove everyone wrong never came. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference canceled their season before league play started.
“It was insane, it didn’t really sink in right away. Kind of that weekend I thought ‘dang, we just played 12 games and we were ready to see where we were at in the conference.’ And it was just over, it was awful,” Battest said.
