Beulah and Hazen girls meet for OT classic
By Jarann Johnson
Hazen and Beulah are rivals and will always be rivals. Last week they added another classic to their rivalry. Beulah stole an away game from Hazen in double overtime, winning 46-40.
Early on the game showed a defensive flare but Hazen gained control. Hazen took off on a 7-0 run to gain control of the game. Hannah Sailer, a Hazen junior post, started the big run with a 3-pointer. After Hazen’s run Beulah trailed 9-2 but they didn’t fold. Beulah got a basket from sophomore Olivia Martens with 2:00 remaining to break their scoreless streak.
Marten’s basket helped Beulah shake off their offensive struggles and get back in the game. Beulah only trailed by four points at the end of the first quarter 12-8. Both teams stayed on a similar path in the second quarter.
