Beulah attempts to conquer Hillcrest

At last year’s girls state golf meet, all eyes were on Beulah’s Rebecca Alt after she scored a hole-in-one on Carrington’s course. During last week’s 2010 Girls State Class B Golf Meet at Jamestown’s Hillcrest Municipal Golf facility, there was little room for such shows of fancy.
"There is a lot of tall grass and it was easy to go out of bounds," the junior said. "The back nine is more hilly, it’s long and frustrating."

Alt shot a 107 during her first 18 holes and improved to a 92 on the second day. Playing with a new set of clubs this year has been a hindrance. Alt noted the difference in her scores at state had to do with mental focus. The warmer temperatures, sunshine and less wind on the second day of the tourney also helped.
"I take it one shot at a time," she added. "I shoot for par every time."
