Beulah bats blazing in opening week

Head coach Reid Flaagan had a very reveling look at his team this season during the first two games of the year. The Beulah American Legion baseball team opened up the 2009 schedule with two non-sectional games. Those two days Flaagan found that quiet bats shouldn’t be a problem for the Cyclones this season, but pitching and defense are going to be tougher fixes.

The Cyclones will have plenty of opportunities to work on them as Flaagan always schedules a full season. This year Bowman County and Dunn County also joined Section 8 for an additional eight games.

"We play one of the most aggressive schedules in Class B. Most kids would rather play then practice," Flaagan explained. "When our section expanded a little bit we went from 16 to 18 teams."
