Beulah boys move winning streak to 3 consecutive games

Beulah faced Carrington with a chance to move their winning streak to three games at the Applebee’s Jimmie Basketball Classic in Jamestown. Carrington struggled to get their star player going and fell 49-36 Saturday afternoon.
Neither team gained control of the game early on and both teams found themselves tied at 4-4. Beulah freshman Trey Brandt put together a personal 7-0 lifting Beulah to an 11-7 lead. Brandt ended his personal run with a 3-pointer.
Beulah turned Brandt’s run into a 12-0 run, which gave them a 14-6 first quarter lead. Carrington’s offense struggled in the first quarter and the same trend continued in the second. Beulah went up 29-12 on a highlight steal by Beulah senior Sean Gierke.
Gierke, a guard, stole the ball and sprinted toward the hoop for a transition score but a Carrington defender awaited him. Facing a 1-on-1 scoring chance Gierke elected to euro-step the defender, faking one way and gliding in the other way for a score.
