Beulah Boys win wild game
By Jarann Johnson
Sometimes a game ends the most ridiculous and strange way possible. Last week the Beulah Miners collected a win at the buzzer 65-63 in the most unheard of way ever.
After three back and forth quarters Beulah found themselves down 38-36. Sophomore forward Chad Morsette quickly changed Beulah’s fate by converting an and-1 on the first play of the fourth quarter.
Beulah kept their positive momentum going when junior point guard Derek Ferebee scored on a contested shot near the hoop. The quick 5-0 run put Beulah up 41-38.
Heart River didn’t let Beulah keep their run going and countered with a 7-0 run, capped by a Joey Wagner 3-pointer. Wagner’s 3-pointer put Heart River up 45-41.
Beulah needed an answer to keep pace with Heart River and got it from junior guard Jacob Weigel. Weigel hit a 3-pointer trimming Heart River’s lead to one point, 46-44. The game stayed tight with Heart River holding on to a one-point lead, 47-46 after a pair of Weigel free throws then things changed.
