Beulah gets home jobbed
By Jarann Johnson
Everyone knows to win the Region 7 crown you’ll have to win the championship on Dickinson Trinity’s home floor. Playing on the road is tough because most of the breaks will go the home teams way and that’s exactly what happened at a critical juncture in Beulah’s 67-64 Region 7 championship loss.
The first quarter of Dickinson Trinity vs Beulah went as expected. Neither team could pull away.
Beulah was up 13-11 late in the period but Lucas Jones made a 3-point buzzer beater to put Trinity up 14-13 at the end of one.
The super competitive trend continued in the second quarter. Trinity pushed their lead to four points with consecutive baskets by Lucas Jones and Shawn Stoltz, which put them up 18-13.
Beulah stayed close, keeping Trinity’s lead under 10 points but couldn’t figure out how to get on a hot stretch. Trinity ended the half up by seven points 32-25.
The only bright spot for Beulah’s offense was Logan Miller’s 17-point first half performance. Aside from Miller’s scoring outbreak Beulah didn’t have much balance.
