Beulah girls fall short in semis

By Jarann Johnson

Beulah fans were hoping for their second consecutive upset win at the Region 7 tournament last week. They were close to pulling it off but No. 3 Hettinger-Scranton made a strong fourth-quarter surge to take control of the game.
Hettinger-Scranton used a 6-0 personal run by junior post Sam Oase to take control of the game and pull away from No. 7 seed Beulah for a 57-45 win.
Beulah center Harys Beauchamp got a block early on against Hettinger-Scranton. Beauchamp kept playing well, converting an and-1 for an early 3-0 Beulah lead.
Ally Walcker added a score on a perfect pass from Olivia Martens putting Beulah up 5-0 early in the game.
This was a shock, most fans expected Beulah to be the team fighting from behind after losing a 15-point regular-season game to Hettinger-Scranton this season. Bailee Pierce, a Hettinger-Scranton guard, made sure her team didn’t let Beulah’s confidence grow anymore.
