Beulah golfers finish season on tough course

Beulah sent two golfers to the Class B state meet last week. Both golfers ended in the top 50 at Mapleton’s Maple River Golf Course, despite disliking the course layout.
Mike Schmidt, senior, struggled to find his rhythm on Day 1. Coach Brandt said Schmidt struggled to put together good shots consistently and ended with an 89.
“He would have a bad couple holes, then a couple good holes. He just couldn’t be consistent the first day. Whether it was his driver irons or whatever. He said he couldn’t put some good shots together. He might have a couple good ones, then a bad one and so forth. It was just kind of that consistency the first day,” Brandt said.
Jase Sailer, senior, got off to a much better start on Day 1. Brandt said Sailer played the back nine holes conservative and finished with an 82 on the first day.
