Beulah parks accepting summer ball registrations
By Jarann Johnson
Beulah Parks and Recreation doesn’t want summer baseball and softball to go the way of the dinosaurs. They’ve formulated a plan offering local athletes a chance to compete this summer.
Jeff Baranick, the Beulah Parks and Recreation Coordinator, said registration for summer baseball and softball is open. He admitted it’s hard to pin down an exact start date but said he’s hoping the season can start in June.
“We are going ahead with plans to have Cal Ripken baseball – the rookies, majors divisions and girls softball for kids 7-12 years old. We’ve opened up registration for those programs and we are targeting June 1 for a start date,” Baranick said.
“We might have to push that back to later in June. We reached the decision with those age groups, including the Tee-ballers, that if we don’t start by July 1 we would call the season off and refund the people their registration fees. We are cautiously optimistic that at some point here in June we will have the green light to start our baseball and softball programs.”
