Beulah starts season strong

Most the time a coach doesn’t really and truthgully know what he has until the season starts. Heading into the first game of the season, Beulah Miners’ Head Coach Bob Koch didn’t know what he had and was really nervous for the game. But, after the road doubleheader, Koch thinks he has a group of games.
Last Thursday evening the Miners played the Shiloh Skyhawks in Bismarck. But the night before Koch wasn’t sure about his team. Koch said the team didn’t look strong the day before their season opener – the team was dropping balls in practice and couldn’t make throws.
Maybe the Miners were just trying to get all their oopsy mistakes for the season over with for one practice. Whatever it was that didn’t go right, Wednesday at practice didn’t follow the Miners into their first game of the year.
The Miners won 2-1 over Shiloh in the region counter game. Koch came away from the game happy about the overall results but wants to see more active bats in his lineup.
“Pretty impressed, pretty impressed for the first game out. We didn’t hit as much as I’d like us to hit. We had a couple of guys that had big nights but up and down the lineup we didn’t hit as much as I’d like us to and hopefully that’ll pick up and I’m pretty confident that it will. We have enough talent there,” Koch said.
