Beulah track qualifies 2 events
By Jarann Johnson
The Beulah Miners went to Bismarck Friday afternoon and competed against schools from Class A and Class B. Competing against the best pushed Beulah to qualify two more events for the state meet.
The Beulah boys were starting to get into a scary situation. The South West Region already has two state qualifiers in the 4x100, which means the region already has two very fast teams capable of placing at the regional meet.
Beulah hadn’t qualified any of the sprint relays and if they happened to have an off day at regionals it could have meant missing third place and not qualifying for state by place.
Beulah erased all of those worries by taking 8th in the 4x200 relay. The foursome who qualified the race were Joel DelaCruz, Johnnie Brown, Tyler Erickson, and Jacob Weigel.
Beulah’s eighth place finish was their fastest time of the year at 1 minute and 34.05 seconds.
The girls also qualified a sprint relay, running 52.50 in the 4x100. Beulah’s time wasn’t fast enough to place but it was fast enough to qualify.
Emily Alt, Erin Walcker, Tia Horning, and Chloe Senn combined for Beulah in the state qualifying effort.
