Beulah trying to hold on

By Jarann Johnson
The Beulah Miners have been in possession for first place for most of the season. Last week they had a chance to lock up the regular season Region 8 championship and No. 1-seed for the region tournament but fell to Shiloh.
Shiloh swept the Miners in Beismarck 6-3 and 10-0. The sweep gave Shiloh hope of sneaking in and winning the region on the last day of the Region 8 schedule.
The results of Beulah and Shiloh’s game weren’t available for print. There weren’t many bright spots for the Miners last week. They went 1-3 in an important baseball tournament in Enderlin.
Dropping games to New Rockford-Sheyenne and getting 10-runned by Thompson will mean Beulah won’t be seeded for the state tournament this year. Most coaches will say Beulah doesn’t have the quality wins if all of the other region leaders have, which means a very tough first round game if Beulah makes state.
The regional tournament will start next Monday and be hosted by Washburn.
