Few highlights in Minot

By Jarann Johnson

The Hazen North Stars haven’t had good luck in Minot. When taking on Minot the North Stars have suffered some pretty lopsided losses. Unfortunately that tradition continued for the North Stars last week.
The North Stars went to Minot for a West Region game and fell 12-3. One of the only good things about the game was Rory Olsen, a junior forward’s play. Olsen recorded two goals in one shift on the ice. Other than that it was a tough game.
Both keepers – Colin Johnson and Tyler Murschel – played in the game. Head coach Dan Frei felt like both keepers played well at times but had mixed results. They saved some of the more difficult shots and were beat on shots that Frei felt weren’t as difficult.
Frei also felt like his team took too many penalties in the game. But the game is over now and the North Stars need to prepare for their Holiday tournament. The Holiday tournament will be this Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Hazen.
There are three teams playing in the tournament; The Pierre Oahe Capitols, Minot Junior gold team and Williston. The North Stars are familiar with West Region foe Williston but don’t know what to expect out of the Minot junior gold team or the Pierre Oahe Capitols, a S.D. team.
