Hazen girls knock out Beulah in postseason
By Jarann Johnson
Hazen and Beulah met up in their third matchup of the season last weekend. Hazen hosted the Region 7 play-in round game and picked up their third win of the season over Beulah 68-38.
Beulah played strong defensively during the start of the game, but they couldn’t get it going on offense and trailed 8-2 after four minutes of play. Kameri Olson, a senior, forward scored for Hazen pushing their lead to 10-2.
Beulah finally got a bit of offense going with a Trinity Doe 3-pointer. Beulah only trailed by six points with about 1:30 to play, so they were right within striking distance. Beulah’s effort to end the first quarter threatening didn’t last because of a costly turnover.
Hazen sophomore Hannah Sailer forced a turnover and raced to the basket for a score. Sailer was fouled and made the corresponding free throws. A few moments later she added a score putting Hazen up 15-5.
