Hettich comes through when it counts
Jesse Hettich was the first to admit he didn’t have his best game Thursday during the Region 7 Championship. Vying for his team’s second berth in the state tournament in three years, the Beulah junior missed seven free throws down the stretch. However, his eighth saw nothing but net as the Miners clinched a 58-54 victory over Dickinson Trinity.
As in true Region 7 fashion, it came down to a nail biter. Trinity was trailing by only three, 57-54, after Jacob Volk made the fade away jumper with just 1:10 remaining. Hettich, who had 11 points in the contest, missed three previous free throw attempts but made up for it with a huge blocked shot with just 15.7 seconds remaining. Then he got his fourth try at the charity stripe and came through.
