Hettich competes at state golf

Champ Hettich defines the word prodigious. Anyone can see the young seventh-grader has an unusual amount of golfing talent for someone his age.
Last week, Hettich’s talent was on display for the whole state to see at the Class B boys state tournament, which was hosted by the Jamestown Country Club.
Hettich’s state tournament experience started with a practice round, which featured cool and cloudy weather. When the tournament started the weather changed.
Beulah head coach Jeremy Brandt said it was the best state tournament golfing weather he had ever encountered.
“Probably the two nicest days back-to-back that I’ve seen at a state tournament since I’ve been coaching golf here. We’ve usually had one good day but I don’t ever remember getting two nice days like we had,” Brandt said.
