Keeping the horseshoe spirit alive

For a select few Mercer County residence, Thursday nights means horseshoes.

The Spring Creek Horseshoe Club has been running more than a quarter of a century and club coordinator Linda Flemmer doesn’t foresee it slowing down anytime soon.

"It’s just fun. We like to get together and play everyone a few times," she said.

Usually the club that draws members from Hazen, Beulah and Zap start the season at the end of May and run until the first part of August. From young to middle age and up to retirees, horseshoes is a game that puts all players on equal footing.
