Local golfers support ambulance service
Cool winds and clear skies made for an excellent day of golf at the Hazen Municipal Golf Course Saturday as local enthusiasts came out to support the Mercer County Ambulance Service. Employee and tournament organizer Mary Speirs said, “It was an awesome turnout, probably our best yet, with 65 participants. The money that we received will purchase new software and computer systems.” Marianne Schmitt, executive director of the service, golfing in her third ambulance tournament was pleased with the results as well. “We’ve received a lot of benefit from these events in the past and purchased some much needed equipment for the ambulances.” Proceeds from past years have gone to purchase hydraulic lift cots for all four units as well as two new stair chairs and other needed items. Golfers didn’t leave without a prize for themselves as what would a tournament be without winners? Placements were as follows: first place, Chad Mannie, Paul Sanderson, Jason Horning and Clay Mannie; second place, Dorry Peterson, Pam Miller, Char Melland, and Mary Speirs.
