The Beulah Miners girls team traveled to Mott-Regent for the first round of the Region 7 tournament and fell 51-33. Mott-Regent advanced to the quarterfinals where they lost to Killdeer by 27 points.
The final four teams left in Region 7 girls basketball are Killdeer, Bowman, Hettinger-Scranton and Glen Ullin-Hebron.
The Beulah boys enjoyed a successful week going 2-0 and improving their record to 17-3 overall. The first win of the week was a tough road win. Beulah needed overtime to top New Town in a high scoring affair. Beulah scored 89 points in their 89-83 road win.
It was the third time Beulah scored at least 80 points this season. Derek Ferebee junior guard led the way with 27 points. Reece Hoherz (18), Chad Morsette (12) and Jacob Weigel (11) reached double-digits in the win.
The next game wasn’t as tough for the Miners. The Miners topped Beach by 40 points. Hoherz led the way with 16 points. Logan Miller and Ferebee added 15 points apiece in the win.
Beulah is locked in as the No. 2-seed for the Region 7 tournament and Trinity will be the No. 1-seed. There is a lot of dust, which must settle to determine the other tournament seeds.
