The Miners did well at the event taking 11th as a team with 62.5 points. But they also did well individually, placing three wrestlers. Jeremy Leintz, Josh Snyder and Issac Ripplinger came away with placings at the prestigious tournament.
Leintz – starter at 106 – had another strong day at the big meet. The freshman wrestler finished second overall, falling in the championship match. In Leintz’s first two matches he picked up pins. In the semifinals he won a decision 10-5 over Kyle Burwick, Hettinger, a regional foe. In the finals Leintz suffered his first loss of the tournament to Tyler Toepke-Floyd, South Border, 8-0.
Another Miner placer was Snyder – starter at 132. He won his first match of the day but couldn’t keep his strong momentum going in the quarter finals. Snyder was pinned by Caleb Dorich, LaMoure, but the 132-pounder rebounded with two wins, pushing his way into the consolation semifinals.
