New curling club is forming in the area thanks to a question
It started with a question.
Now months later that early idea is becoming a reality for area curling enthusiasts. A few area men are forming the Hazen Curling Club. They are kicking off the season by hosting a learning to curl clinic at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Hazen All Season Arena. The only requirement of the free clinic is that people come dressed in comfortable pants and bring clean indoor tennis shoes.
“Last spring someone asked me what would it take to put curling ice in the arena?” Dick Nordgren, the man in charge of the ice on the arena, explained. “I said it was a different technique but it can be done. With hockey numbers dropping they were looking at ways to utilize some of the time periods.”
