Northstars can’t get upset

Monday the Northstars hosted Williston, a team they split with during the regular season, in the play-in round of the West Region tournament. The Northstars came close to winning the match with third-string emergency goal tender Alec Schroetlin but couldn’t hold on in the final period.
Northstars Head Coach Dan Frei said he was proud of his team’s ability to keep working hard despite unpleasant results. The coach believes his team helped show the younger hockey players in the program that working hard, having a good attitude and being committed decides results and circumstances are important.
“With all the adversity thrown in on this team, I mean every day these kids showed up and practiced hard – the kids who don’t see much ice time, the kids who see a lot of ice time and a brand new goalie, they all worked hard every day. And you have to have everyone working hard to be a team. So as far as moral victories go, if there was ever one that deserved it, they did,” Frei said.
The Northstars showed their construction worker like attitude when they rallied from a 3-0 first period hole to take the lead. Rory Olson, senior forward started the comeback with a late first period goal.
Olsen trailed the puck and, after a shot on net, the senior was there to slap the puck in.
