Wrestling places 6 at State

Beulah-Hazen wrestlers finish their season with six State placers. The wrestlers spent Thursday through Saturday in Fargo last week finishing a very successful year.

Logan Eisenbeis, Ben Maliske, Jordon Mann, John Eisenbeis, Jared Weinand and Ryan Block all placed within the top eight for their respective weight classes.

Maliske finished out his remarkable senior year in second place and recorded his 29th pin for a 112-pound Class B state record. Maliske pinned his way to the championship match and lost in the last seconds with a 3-4 decision to Nathan Tandeski, a senior from Rolla Rock Lake-St. John.

"Although losing in the finals is very tough to swallow, setting the state record makes it a little easier," Maliske said. "Second place is a great accomplishment and so is placing 75 percent of our wrestlers at State."

Unseeded L. Eisenbeis at 103 pounds finished his season placing eighth. L. Eisenbeis lost his first match to the No. 5 seed Dylan Urbach, Lisbon, but came back winning three rounds of consolation matches. L. Eisenbeis lost in the seventh place match to the No. 8 seed Dustin Schmeiss, Harvey.

Unseeded Mann, at 119 pounds, lost his first match to the No. 4 seed, Garrett Thompson, Rugby. Mann then wrestled through the consolation rounds defeating unranked Jason Armitage, Lamoure, and No. 6 seed Josh Armitage, Killdeer, for a placing into the seventh place match. Mann felt the sting of defeat for the second time to Thompson for his eighth place finish.
