Twenty-one Center-Stanton High School seniors bid farewell to their first 12 formal years of education Sunday afternoon during commencement exercises at the school gymnasium in Center. A full crowd of family friends and well-wishers filled the gym with Wildcat pride.
The Center-Stanton School District has lost yet another coach with the recent resignation of Michael Bergstrom, head girls basketball coach at Center-Stanton High School. Bergstrom led the Lady Wildcats for four years.
The subject of storing junk or confiscated vehicles in the city of Center was discussed at the May 3 meeting of the City Council.
“Hey, lunch ladies,” a young voice calls out. Three heads look up from their work in the busy Center-Stanton School kitchen, smiles on their faces as they look to see who called to them. It could be any of the students in the kindergarten through grade 12 school.
In 2005, a couple of women from St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Center decided to use old polyester material and old polyester clothes to make quilts. Kathy Jacobs and Arly Haag got the idea that the quilts they created could be donated to the God’s Child Project. They worked in Arly’s garage with the help of Arly’s sister, Joey Erhardt.
