Chairs first installment in Golden Age projects
By Annette Tait
As of last Thursday, visitors to the Golden Age Club have softer seating while they enjoy the noon meal, work on a jigsaw puzzle, play cards, or just enjoy each other’s company. Purchase of new chairs to replace the worn folding chairs is the first in a series of projects to be accomplished with donations received earlier in the year.
The Golden Age Club is open to anyone who wants to stop in. There’s usually a jigsaw puzzle in progress, and often a game of cards as well, especially on Saturday afternoons when the pinochle tournament is in progress. The tournament is held each Saturday at 1 p.m., with a potluck held the fourth Saturday of the month.
“Everyone is welcome to play,” said Alice Dilger. “The tournament is usually from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and we keep playing cards until about 6 p.m.”
