This weekend it will begin to look a lot like Christmas in Center as area businesses fill the Betty Hagel Memorial Civic Center for the 15th annual Christkindlmarkt.
“We do this for the community and they enjoy every minute of it,” event organizer Carla Wolf said. “It’s surprising how many people come to shop.”
The event that attracts more than 400 people will open at noon Sunday with approximately 35 booths – including 12 new ones – featuring food, games, gifts for sale and Santa Claus. Max Amsden of Hazen will be giving horse and sleigh rides 1-3:30 p.m. Prizes will be given out at 4 p.m.
The Oliver County Professional Business Association has put on the event every year for 15 years, Wolf said. The event began as Santa Days, but the organizers wanted something bigger for the businesses to give back to the community.
